COOKIES & RELATED TECHNOLOGIES POLICY
What are “cookies” and how can you manage them?
“Cookies” are small files containing information that a website (specifically, the web server) stores on a user’s computer, so that each time the user connects to the website, the site retrieves that information and offers services related to it. A typical example of such information is a user’s preferences on a website, as indicated by the user’s selections on that website (e.g., specific buttons clicked, searches, advertisements, etc.). Some of these, called session cookies, are deleted after the browsing session ends, while other cookies remain on the device and allow us or our partners to recognize the browser on the user’s next visit (persistent cookies).
The installation of cookies is only permitted with the user’s consent and after appropriate information has been provided.
How can I control the cookies installed on my computer?
The main way to control cookies is through the settings of your web browser, which should be configured to not automatically accept cookies and to require your active selection for each installation. Keep in mind, however, that if you disable cookie acceptance, you may have limited access to some services or functions provided by a website.
It may also be useful to install one of the cookie management add-ons or plug-ins available for your browser, to gain more control over when cookies are installed.
When using a browser to access websites, you can set it to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is sent. Each browser is different. Check your browser’s “Help” menu to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Your device’s operating system may also include additional cookie control settings.
If you do not accept the installation of cookies, the functionality of the website or app may be reduced. To technically apply your preference, a cookie that registers your opt-out will be installed on your browser. This cookie’s sole purpose is to remember your refusal. Please note that, for technical reasons, this cookie can only be used by the browser where it was installed. If you delete cookies or use a different browser, you will need to re-declare your refusal (re-opt-out).
Types of Cookies
(a) Strictly Necessary Cookies:
These are required for navigating the website or application and for using its features. Without them, proper website functionality is not guaranteed (e.g., text entry), even during browsing between pages.
(b) Functionality Cookies:
These allow a website/application to store information already provided (such as username, language selection, or the user’s region) and improve the user’s ability to enjoy a personalized experience. These cookies collect anonymized information and do not allow tracking of browsing activity across websites.
(c) Performance Cookies:
These collect information on the use of a website/application – for example, which pages are visited most often, or whether users receive error messages. These cookies do not store identifying information. The information collected is used exclusively to improve the performance and functionality of the website, enhancing the user experience.
(d) Marketing Cookies:
These are used to deliver targeted advertising relevant to the user’s interests. They are also used to limit the frequency of ads and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They record whether or not the user has visited the website. This information may be shared with third parties (e.g., advertisers). To improve targeted advertising, these cookies are often linked to third-party services.
